Plymouth People:The Life of Our Church
"The Lord hath yet more truth and light to break forth from His Holy Word."
Pastor John Robinson to the Mayflower Pilgrims at Leyden
It's all in a name.
The name of our church's fellowship and social group is Plymouth People. We are saying a mouthful or a life full in that name. Our God is about people. God undertook human form in the person of Jesus of Nazareth because God was about letting people know that they, we, mean the world to God. The Incarnation, God becoming human, is about GOD MEETING US WHERE WE ARE. And just as God declared in the creation story that humanity was not just good and not only good, but very good, we believe that God meets us where we are to build us up. There are too many voices and distortions in the Christian story that lead people to conclude other things about God. We believe that God is with us because of God's infinite, unconditional, love for us. Therefore, we believe that God meets us where we are to build us up, not to beat us up. As God neither comes to us to condemn us, nor does God come to us to leave us as we are. God is always wanting to transform us, heal us, take us to new understandings of God's love for us, mission and plan for us, and for the world we find ourselves in.
At Plymouth Congregational Church, everything we do is about people. God's people. The ones we've met and the ones we need to meet. We offer a number of programs to try to meet people where they are. Please check out this list and see if there is something that meets your need. If you need more information, please feel free to call or e-mail. Better yet, check us out, plug in anytime. If there is something of interest to you that you don't see here, let us know that, too. It may already be on the drawing board. Or, you might be just the person to help us get it going.
